Sandi Nelson

Sandi Nelson has expertise in the statistical analysis of Medicare and Medicaid administrative data for program evaluation and quality measurement purposes. She manages the systems and programming components for Mathematica’s health research projects.

Nelson, who joined Mathematica in 2006, serves as the systems director for the evaluation of the Million Hearts® Cardio Vascular Disease Risk Reduction Model. The Million Hearts® evaluation is a rigorous five-year randomized trial with more than 500 participating organizations. She directs the programming component of a Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ initiative to development new quality measures for Medicare-Medicaid dual enrollees and Medicaid-only beneficiaries, and serves as the lead programmer for the development, re-evaluation, and implementation of outpatient outcome and efficiency measures.

Before joining Mathematica, Nelson was a Research Associate at the Urban Institute and held research positions at Westat and PERT Survey Research. She has an M.P.P. from Georgetown University.
