Peter Mariani

Solution Architect

Peter Mariani develops software and conducts analysis to support health care policy evaluation and program improvement. His expertise includes cloud computing, software development, and data analytics.

Mariani is currently working on the Medicaid and CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program) Business Information Solution Data Quality Atlas website, a part of medicaid.gov, leading the development of the application programming interface. He is also working with a team of developers to improve an open-source computational Bayesian statistics package for the Comprehensive Primary Care Plus initiative. He develops web-based dashboards for public-sector clients, like the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and private-sector clients, such as a New York State insurance company. In data analytics, Mariani was part of Mathematica’s team for the CMS Artificial Intelligence Health Outcomes Challenge, and he has worked on natural language processing applications in the opioid epidemic and in data collection.

Before joining Mathematica in 2018, Mariani was a data scientist at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory and the Johns Hopkins Health System. He holds an M.S. in applied and computational mathematics from Johns Hopkins University.
