Mindy Hu

Mindy Hu is a mixed methods researcher whose work focuses on policies and programs that promote community health and address disparities. 

Since joining Mathematica in 2007, Hu has primarily worked on projects in nutrition and public health. She also works on projects focused on education, early childhood, employment, supporting families, and preventing violence. She is currently directing a study to evaluate a diverse portfolio of community-based investments to promote better nutrition and physical activity for population groups that are disproportionately impacted by their consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages. She has led large data collection efforts for multiple national studies of nutrition assistance programs, including those specifically designed for children and for seniors. Her data collection expertise includes in-person, phone, web, and hard-copy surveys, in-person and virtual interviews, and focus groups.   

Before joining Mathematica, Hu worked for the New York City Department of Mental Health and Hygiene in the bureau of chronic disease prevention, and has experience as a clinical dietitian. She holds an M.P.H. in social science research from Columbia University.
