Karen Schneider has more than 15 years of experience as a health care researcher for federal and state contracts related to value-based care, COVID-19, HIV/AIDS, quality of care, access to care, and health care disparities. She has expertise in mixed-methods evaluation design and quantitative data analysis of primary and secondary data sources.
Since joining Mathematica in 2023, Schneider has supported mixed-methods evaluations of alternative payment models tested by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid’s Innovation Center. She is currently implementation lead on the evaluation of the Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) Model. Prior to Mathematica, she served as evaluation lead on a variety of federally and state-funded projects, overseeing design, data collection, analysis, and presentation of results to clients. In addition, she provided data-related technical assistance and training to clients and health departments on the use of data for public health action and evaluation. Currently, she serves as Mathematica’s area director for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, overseeing business development and project oversight for projects funded by the agency.
Schneider has presented at national conferences, including AcademyHealth, and has placed peer-reviewed publications in journals including JAMA Network Open, Health Services Research, and Health Affairs. She holds a Ph.D. in epidemiology from the Brown University School of Public Health.
