Rick McManus has a diverse background in social work, behavioral health, long-term services and supports, end-of-life care, and Medicaid policy and data analytics. He currently focuses on Medicaid policy and programs that support the most vulnerable populations, including children in out-of-home placements (such as foster care or residential programs) and people who need substantial support to live independently.
Before joining Mathematica, McManus was a managing consultant for The Lewin Group, where he led a variety of contracts for federal and state clients related to Medicaid, Medicare, and state-funded health programs. He has led implementation and monitoring teams as well as data collection efforts for multiple federal models. He also advised and consulted with state governments on Medicaid data analysis, universal assessments, program operations, the establishment of program service rates, and service delivery patterns.
Before entering the consulting world, McManus held positions at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (Department of Quantitative Health Sciences and the Center for Health Policy and Research). He has a master of social work and master of public policy from the University of Michigan and completed undergraduate studies at Bradley University.
