Oliver Martinez Lopez has more than three years of experience supporting qualitative data collection and analysis in health, infrastructure, agriculture, private sector development, and education.
Currently, Martinez Lopez serves as a project manager on multiyear evaluations for the Department of Labor’s Bureau of International Affairs. He oversees project schedules, financials, and subcontractor coordination to evaluate the progress, performance, and capacities of (1) new labor justice institutions established in Mexico tied to the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, and (2) a multi-country evaluation of migrant worker-related interventions. Since joining Mathematica in 2023, Martinez Lopez has worked on a range of research projects in global development, education, health, and agriculture for the Millennium Challenge Corporation, U.S. Agency for International Development, Global Partnership for Education, the Jacobs Foundation, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Before joining Mathematica, Martinez Lopez worked as a Research Analyst at Tufts University’s Fletcher Graduate School where he conducted literature reviews and data analysis for studies on artificial intelligence adoption among smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Motivated by his upbringing in El Salvador, Martinez Lopez pursued his passion for global development and supporting migrant communities at Tufts University where he holds a B.A. in international relations and Latin American studies. He served as a fundraising co-president and English as a Second Language mentor at the Somerville-based nonprofit Committee for Refugees from El Salvador, supporting immigrant communities in the Greater Boston area through English as a Second Language instruction and citizenship exam counsel.
