Myley Laurent’s research focuses on evaluating and providing technical assistance to programs with the goal of improving the well-being of individuals and families with low income.
Laurent is currently the project director for the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs), which is a program that provides temporary financial support and employment services to low-income families. In this role, she directs a team to develop materials and conduct regional trainings for California county staff in their development and submission of continuous quality improvement reports. In addition, she provided technical assistance to grantees in the Regional Partnership Grants national cross-site evaluation, where she supported grantees in designing a rigorous evaluation.
Laurent also has expertise in data collection and data analysis. She is the project director for the Partnership for Social and Emotional Learning Initiative, a project funded by the Wallace Foundation. She coordinated and managed the data collection administration of SELweb, an online social and emotional assessment, to 76 schools in six districts across the United States. She also supports the Head Start Family and Child Experiences Survey (FACES) team in data archiving, data analysis, and report writing.
Laurent, who joined Mathematica in 2015, has a Ph.D. in education from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
