Michelle Bennett's work focuses on the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of education programs and policies, and on supporting clients' effective use of data and evidence to improve public well-being.

Since joining Mathematica in 2022, Bennett has worked on projects related to K–12 education and national service. For the AmeriCorps LEARNS project, in partnership with the AmeriCorps Office of Research and Evaluation, she supports the creation of products that synthesize and communicate the evidence that the agency builds. For the U.S. Department of Education, she works on the evaluation of 21st Century Community Learning Centers national implementation study and impact study of a continuous improvement system and multiple state partnerships for the Regional Educational Laboratory Mid-Atlantic, including helping the Pennsylvania Department of Education increase the usefulness of the Pennsylvania School Climate Survey. She also supports data collection and analysis for an evaluation of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Networks for School Improvement.

Bennett holds a master’s degree in education policy analysis from Harvard University's Graduate School of Education and a B.A. in education policy reform and Jewish studies from Indiana University. She formerly worked as a substitute teacher and served as an AmeriCorps member with City Year Detroit.
