Kent Davis

In his work in Medicaid and Medicare information technology, Kent Davis provides self-service analytics and guidance to decision makers by enriching source data by adding context and integrability.

Davis joined Mathematica in 2014 after nine years with Optum as a consultant to New Jersey’s Medicaid and Human Services Data Warehouse. Before that, he worked for New Jersey’s Department of Environmental Protection and Division of Youth and Family Services. At Mathematica, he has served as an analytics consultant and led Medicaid and Medicare data analytics tasks and projects. Currently, Davis is the task lead on a project with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS’s) Medicare Advantage office, responsible for improving the submission and processing of high quality encounter data through outreach and guidance development. He led a team of analysts, engineers, and report developers to produce a cloud-based platform for reporting state Medicaid data, and he is using this experience to design a reporting platform in a second state for a Medicaid-eligible population. Davis has also been integral to developing the business intelligence component at CMS for the country’s Medicaid data warehouse.

In addition, Davis has been a champion of “community guardianship” as an officer in a New Jersey nonprofit dedicated to providing trained volunteers to serve as legal guardians for incapacitated adults. This commitment enables him to combine his expertise in public health with community service.

Davis has an M.P.H. from Rutgers University’s School of Public Health.
