Chris Bory has dedicated his career to improving the quality and outcomes of behavioral health services for children, youth, families, and adults by combining clinical expertise with data and analytics.

Since joining Mathematica in June 2023, Bory has served in various task lead roles on the California Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative, supporting a comprehensive evaluation of the initiative’s progress toward reimagining and transforming California’s behavioral health ecosystem. He has led tasks involving technical assistance through a Results-Based Accountability framework and provided training and technical assistance on specialized topics. Bory is also the data analytics task lead for Mathematica’s Medicaid and CHIP Business Information and Solution Data Analytics contract; in this role, he supervises the analysis of Transformed Medicaid Statistical Information System Analytic Files and the reporting of findings to diverse users. As the behavioral health deputy area director within Mathematica’s State Health Unit, Bory also supports strategic planning, business development, staff development and training, and implementation for behavioral health initiatives.

Before joining Mathematica, Bory was assistant vice president of advanced analytics and data visualization for Carelon Behavioral Health Connecticut, the administrative services organization for the Connecticut Behavioral Health Partnership. In this role, Bory led a team of data analysts, programmers, and health research scientists in conducting program improvement activities and clinical studies designed to enhance the accessibility, quality, practice patterns, and outcomes of providers and programs in the Connecticut Medicaid network. He provided guidance and direction in enhancing analytic capabilities and developed innovative quality behavioral health metrics, reporting models, data visualizations, methodologies, and predictive models. Bory has extensive experience in implementing evidence-based practices in community-based settings and developing quality improvement frameworks for children’s behavioral health services and supports.

Bory holds a Psy.D. in clinical psychology and an M.A. in clinical practices from the University of Hartford, Graduate Institute of Professional Psychology. He is a licensed clinical psychologist.
