Alice Ann Gola

Principal Researcher

Alice Ann Gola is a principal researcher in Mathematica’s Human Services Division. She is passionate about research that promotes children’s healthy development and specializes in evaluations of federal child nutrition programs.

Gola has served as the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) project lead and the project director on large-scale evaluations of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs, the Child and Adult Care Food Program, and the Summer Food Service Program. She is currently the project director for FNS’s National School Foods Study. This study, a comprehensive evaluation of the school meal programs, examines the nutritional quality of school meals, the cost to produce the meals, children’s dietary intake, and plate waste.

Before joining Mathematica in 2022, Gola worked at Westat as a senior study director and at FNS as a social science researcher. She has a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from the University of Connecticut and a B.S. in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
