- Medicaid enrollment in comprehensive MCOs increased by less than .1 percent – from just over 55.5 million in 2017 to less than 55.6 million in 2018 – representing the third straight year of slowed growth.
- Dual enrollment in comprehensive MCOs increased by 5.2 percent from 2017 to 2018.
- The percentage of Medicaid beneficiaries enrolled in comprehensive managed care plans as a result of the ACA Medicaid expansion increased for the third straight year, although growth slowed significantly in 2018.
The Medicaid Managed Care Enrollment Report summarizes data on Medicaid managed care as of July 2018. The report includes a summary of trends in managed care enrollment and program participation. It also includes national-level summary tables, such as total enrollment, enrollment of dual eligibles, enrollment in comprehensive managed care organizations, and enrollment by program and plan. Finally, the report includes state-level tables on features of the state’s managed care programs.
The data and information presented in this report were collected directly from all states, the District of Columbia, and US territories.
