Hunger in America: 2001 National Report Prepared for America's Second Harvest

This report, the largest and most comprehensive examination of Americans who seek emergency food relief and the charitable network that serves them, notes that more than 23 million people received emergency hunger relief from Second Harvest in 2001, an increase of about 7.5 percent or nearly two million people, since 1997. Examines characteristics of those receiving assistance, food insecurity, choices between food and other necessities, food assistance received from the government, health status of those who receive assistance, and a host of other issues.
