Dataween 2017
The proliferation of large administrative data sets creates real opportunities for state policymakers looking for cost-effective ways to improve programs. Although do-it-yourself tools like data dashboards and visualizations have also become more accessible, the challenge is to make sure that policymakers are driven by data, not drowning in it.
To help governors’ offices, state member-based associations, and other stakeholders learn more about available tools and how to get the most out of them, Mathematica has partnered with the National Governors Association to host DATAWEEN on October 31.
DATAWEEN is a data-focused “science fair,” where attendees were able to see these analytic tools in action and engage directly with experts in data collection and data analytics to: (1) access new user-friendly tools and resources to interpret data; (2) learn how innovative techniques and processes can help improve programs and policies and address big challenges that states face; and (3) build partnerships with experts from Mathematica and other organizations, who can be a resource for states, answering questions or providing technical assistance on data collection and analytics.
