Nikhil Tiwari’s work at Mathematica spans a wide range of evaluation, implementation, and technical assistance projects in the areas of human services, health, and education. Drawing on more than 15 years of experience working in U.S. and international settings, Tiwari specializes in developing tailored qualitative research and technical assistance approaches that address clients’ specific needs and contexts.
Since joining Mathematica, Tiwari has been a significant contributor to Mathematica’s development and operationalization of tools for measurement and evaluation, particularly for participatory research methods. He has led research and technical assistance across a range of policy and practice areas and has worked with clients including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Asian American Foundation, America’s Promise Alliance, and multiple federal agencies including the Administration for Children and Families, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health, and Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation.
Tiwari began his career as a middle and high school teacher before moving into program manager and consultant roles at different youth-supporting nonprofits in India. He holds a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction and educational policy studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a B.A. in psychology from Fergusson College.
