Nikhil Tiwari’s work at Mathematica focuses on incorporating lenses of equity in a wide range of foundation and federal evaluation, implementation, and technical assistance projects in the areas of education, health, and human services.

Since joining Mathematica, Tiwari has been a significant contributor to Mathematica’s development and operationalization of research and technical assistance tools for equitable measurement and evaluation. Tiwari has served as a qualitative research expert for a national implementation study of full-service community schools, an equity-focused examination of federal healthy marriage and responsible fatherhood program measures, and the Analysis of Middle School Math Systems project for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Currently, Tiwari serves as a subject matter expert in participatory action research for the Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work Program Evaluation and America’s Promise Alliance’s Annual State of Young People research initiative. In addition to leading technical assistance engagements on equity and cultural and linguistic responsiveness in the health and human services sectors, Tiwari serves as a lead site visitor for a qualitative study evaluating promising practices for COVID-19 testing and vaccination in states and tribal organizations focused on populations who are medically or socially at disproportionate risk for COVID-19 or related adverse outcomes.

Tiwari began his career as a middle and high school teacher before moving into program manager and consultant roles at different educational and youth-supporting nonprofits in India.
