Ngan MacDonald is on a mission to create a bridge between academic research and industry for health care data. She is passionate about creating a collaborative data ecosystem that liberates data for use to improve health care.

MacDonald brings more than two decades of health data analytics and operational experience to Mathematica. She is also the chief of data operations for the Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine at Northwestern University. Her prior roles with health insurers and management consultants span analytics, information management, data strategy, and regulatory compliance with interoperability.

MacDonald leads a team of data scientists at Mathematica that helps public and private health organizations use their data to deliver meaningful insights that make an impact and foster innovation in health care data analytics. These efforts take place within the company’s emerging health data division, which capitalizes on our decades of health expertise, data analytics experience, and access to multiple sources of health care data to improve public well-being.

MacDonald holds a B.S. in communication studies from Northwestern University and an M.S. in information systems from DePaul University. She is based in Chicago.
