This brief presents statistical methods that staff in state Medicaid agencies could use to assess how well their Medicaid program is meeting the goal of access to care for Medicaid beneficiaries that is comparable to that for populations with other sources of coverage. The brief discusses the advantages and challenges of different methods and provides examples of the potential application of the methods within the context of monitoring access for Medicaid enrollees.
