Tracking Youth Unemployment During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, youth unemployment (for ages 16-24) spiked across all racial and ethnic groups. By August 2020, unemployment rates among White and Hispanic youth have declined somewhat. However, unemployment rates remain high among Black or African American and Asian youth, at 25 percent and 21 percent, respectively.
