This weekend, many families will take time to recognize the important role that fathers play in their children’s lives. In recognition of Father’s Day, Mathematica and the Administration for Children and Families in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services are pleased to announce the release of an online report, Supporting the Fatherhood Journey: Findings from the Parents and Children Together (PACT) Evaluation. The PACT evaluation is a large-scale, multicomponent project intended to broaden the public’s understanding of responsible fatherhood and healthy marriage programs.
PACT challenges the negative perception that fathers with low income who live apart from their children are not interested in assuming the role and responsibilities of fatherhood. This online report illustrates these fathers’ lives and what some responsible fatherhood programs are doing to support these dads in becoming better parents, providers, and partners. In the report, you’ll find the following:
- Snapshot of dads served by programs involved with the PACT evaluation
- Services offered by four programs in Minnesota, Kansas, and Missouri
- Summary of program effects on father involvement and other key outcomes

PACT on the move. Several members of the PACT study team, including Reggie Covington and Scott Baumgartner, presented information from the online report and other PACT resources to attendees at Fanning the Fatherhood FIRE: A National Fatherhood Summit on June 5, 2019, in Nashville, Tennessee.
