Since it began in 2015, National Apprenticeship Week has provided a unique opportunity for leaders in business, labor, education, and other fields to highlight the important role that apprenticeships play in the United States. It also serves as an opportunity for apprenticeship sponsors to showcase their programs, facilities, and apprentices in their community.
Across all 50 states, more than 200,000 people have participated in nearly 2,000 events designed to showcase apprenticeship programs, facilities, and participants. Governors, mayors, and other local leaders have issued more than 260 proclamations to commemorate the week, and a coordinated social media campaign has garnered more than 95.2 million online impressions.

Our 2012 study of Registered Apprenticeship programs in 10 states set the national benchmark for apprenticeship analysis, including landmark findings on wage gains and social benefits.
Study author Debbie Reed discussed the importance of this research in a recent video.
Mathematica is continuing to reimagine the way the world gathers and uses data to improve apprenticeships. Along with our partners at the Urban Institute and Social Policy Research Associates, we’re analyzing the effectiveness of recent State Apprenticeship Expansion investments from the U.S. Department of Labor.
In addition, we’re continuing to look at ways to ensure that women and other traditionally underrepresented groups have access to the benefits of apprenticeship programs.
And we’ll continue to light the path to progress on expanding apprenticeship in America, providing program sponsors, policymakers, and the workforce community with the confidence and clarity to know what to do, how to make it happen, and where to go next.
