Using a "Road Test" to Improve Human Services Programs
How can human services programs maximize learning from the experience of trying something new? “Road testing” is an analytic approach to pilot testing that uses iterative, rapid prototyping among a few staff and clients to vet, refine the design, and strengthen the implementation of a new strategy before scaling it up. By intentionally focusing on the underlying design and drivers of good implementation of a new strategy, human services programs can more precisely identify the conditions for success. This webinar was for practitioners of human services programs, applied social science researchers, and anyone else interested in learning more about this analytic approach to managing program change. Experts from Mathematica Policy Research described the road test process in the context of a larger approach to managing collaborative, evidence-informed change, known as Learn, Innovate, Improve (LI²), and offered practical guidance and examples from employment services agencies for conducting road tests.
