Realizing the Value of Health Care Interoperability
The digital health revolution is here. 90 percent of hospitals and 80 percent of physicians use electronic records and standards for use are already in place. But how can we ensure that data exchanges translate into strong, sustainable interoperability? The real challenge lies in how we use this data effectively to improve patient outcomes, enhance operational efficiencies, and drive innovation to benefit providers, health systems, public health agencies, and the private sector.
Mathematica held a conversation about the best strategies and tools to achieve interoperability throughout our health care ecosystem. Topics covered included:
- Interoperability in our health system and the key steps needed to make progress
- Challenges health organizations face in using the data
- Current technologies, standards, and what’s next in enhancing interoperability
- The role of artificial intelligence (AI) in interoperability in both the present and future, and the non-AI level of effort that will be required.
